The dauntless detective
Ivor Loder-Clewes is having his breakfast when his
housekeeper Mrs Scrubit ushers in the hirsute
Highlander John Brown, who takes him to a meeting with
Queen Victoria. She orders him to retrieve papers that
have been stolen from her desk in Windsor Castle. A
strand of red hair, a fading fragrance and a false
fingernail give him his first clues, pointing to the
Slavonic spy, Ima Kneavezdroppa, as the culprit. He
follows a trail of sequins, but Ima remains one step
ahead of him through encounters with a gipsy and
aboard a train. Ivor sets a trap, and after an
encounter with Sherlock Holmes in Piccadilly Circus,
has his final showdown with Ima in her room at the
Saveloy Hotel. |
