A Far-Fetched Case: Old Henry Harber asks Stan and Ollie to find his nephew Sidney who disappeared from home thirty years ago. After enquiring after Sidney at the Information Bureau, they find themselves in Australia. They get work on a sheep farm and encounter kangaroos, but are eventually able to bring Sidney home.

Proof of the Pudding: Stan and Ollie attend Lord Lardedar's fancy dress ball dressed as detectives. Stan, who received a How to Be a 'Tec book for Christmas decides to investigate the disappearance of his lordship's diamond tie-pin. He follows the tracks of a duck, but it is only at dinner that the pin is recovered.

Nick of Time: Jerry Lewis arrives to take Lulu to a party, only to find that her diamond necklace has been stolen from her safe. Algy the Amateur 'tec arrives to take on the case. Jerry has his pocket picked by Nick O'Lott, who is nabbed by Algy, but it is Algy who is nabbed by the police, leaving Jerry to retrieve Lulu's necklace.
