After reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Roobarb dons deerstaler and cap, and as Roobarb Holmes follows the clues to deduce that the lettuces in the garden have been attacked by a one-legged lettuce-eating dragon.

Tom and

After reading a Sherlock Holmes book, Tom dresses up as Catlock Tomes and sets out on the trail of Jerry. Smoking a pipe doesn't help him solve the problem of getting Jerry out of the cellar, and Jerry makes mischief with his magnifying glass. Spike takes exception to Tom's violin playing.
