Story: Lestrade, Clewlow and Motson seek out Holmes in Sussex after the death of the Home Secretary from a single bee sting, followed by almost total mortification of the corpse within twenty-four hours. Holmes suggests that had the man been injected with bee serum some days prior to the sting, death could have resulted. The others travel to Reigate and Whitechapel to find the man responsible. After Lestrade destroys the evidence, Abberline reveals that the killer was following in the footsteps of an infamous father.

Story: Standing in for Holmes and Watson, Clewlow and Motson are called in by Lestrade to investigate a series of burglaries taking place in houses along the banks of a canal. Lestrade knows that the Bly brothers are pulling the jobs, but hopes that they will lead him to 'Mr. Big'. After posing as Harriers, and hitching a ride on a narrowboat, they find that they have been duped by a master burglar.

Story: The proprietor of Sweeney Todd's pie store has had a premonition that, with the sale of his chain of pie stores impending, he is going to be killed by one of his three sons. Clewlow and Motson attend a dinner at Todd Hall, attended by the entire family, and Merlin is bludgeoned to death in his study, and his cashbox stolen. Although he is sure who the culprit is, Clewlow is unable to bring him to trial.

Story: After visiting violin maker Boyes in Lytham, Holmes is approached in his hotel by Inspector Plum for help in investigating the kidnapping of five-year-old deaf and dumb boy, Jeremy Baxter, the stepson of a local businessman. The ransom has been raised, much of it appearing anonymously in gold on Baxter's doorstep, and is to be delivered in an area of Pilling that is under water at high tide. Holmes deduces that the kidnapper is local and educated. Baxter delivers the ransom, but it is collected by a hot air balloon and apparently flown to Ireland. Holmes, however, reveals that all is not as it seems, and the conspirators are brought to justice.
"The Case of the Substitute Strangler" (1998)

Story: In residence at 221B while Holmes and Watson are away, Clewlow is presented with a locked room mystery by both Motson and Lestrade. Professor Lockett has been found strangled inside a locked room at a mental institution with the key on the floor at his feet. Clewlow and Motson visit the sanatorium, and with the aid of a piece of string Clewlow provides a solution to the crime.
"The Case of the Two-Faced Transom" (1998)

Story: Holmes and Motson travel to Paris to investigate a robbery and the murder of a hotel concierge in a locked room. Aside from the cashbox, a sink plunger was also stolen from the office. Clewlow reconstructs the crime with an apron, a plunger, a bodkin and a piece of string, and deduces a link to his earlier investigations into the locked room murder in St Albans.

Story: Kitchener sends Clewlow and Motson to France. On arrival they are sent to investigate suspicions of German spying on 632 Squadron. They join the squadron on a flight mission and face German Fokkers, but it appears that their plane has been sabotaged. The behaviour of a German pilot and a yellow flying helmet help Clewlow uncover the traitor, who does not return from his final mission.

Story: Warren tells the story of his time as Commissioner of Scotland Yard, from his taking office under the Home Secretary, Henry Matthews, to his retirement. After arriving at the yard he spars over rank with Monro, and learns the details of his role from Crib. His first case is the death of Sir Crabtree Spruce, shot through the head in his locked study. At Spruce's Dorset home he encounters Lestrade, Holmes and Watson. He is later faced with the theft of howitzer plans from a courier on a train stopped at the station of one James Moriarty, and takes Hopkins with him to investigate, and once again Holmes is present. He briefly deals with Bloody Sunday and passes on to the Ripper murders.

Story: With Holmes and Wiggins on assignment against the Germans in France, Kitchener sends Clewlow and Motson to Sussex to investigate rumours of German spies in the vicinity of 303 Squadron's base. There seem to be any number of people at the base who could be spies, but after receiving a telegram from Mycroft, Clewlow is able to confirm his suspicions about the spy's identity and put an end to his work.
