Story: Travelling up to the Canadian gold fields, Holmes & Watson listen to old prospector O'Shaunessy's tales of his gold strike. Later, in Rossland, they are visited by O'Shaunessy's daughter, and find O'Shaunessy murdered. Holmes uses fingerprints to bring the murderer to justice, and uncovers a fabulous jewel.

Story: Arriving in Calgary in search of the son of a friend, Watson finds himself staying in a brothel. Holmes is also in town and along with Steele of the North West Mounted Police asks Watson to go undercover in the brothel to keep an eye on certain "rowdy elements". Watson is soon called in to attend to a wounded man, and finds himself embroiled in a plot to discover the gold of Headless Valley, accompanying gun-runner Zachary there, to attend to the chief of the Ogokee's wounded son. In the valley Watson finds himself taking part in a buffalo hunt. The Ogokees take care of their problems and the valley is sealed forever.
